There are many players. Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Samus, Link, Fox, Pikachu, and Kirby. The are unlockable characters too. Jigglypuff, Luigi, Ness, and Falcon. King Dedede was going to be in Super Smash Bros., but was decided not to.
Strangely, the creator of the Kirby video game series, Masahiro Sakurai, created the Super Smash Bros. series as well. Unlike in Super Smash Bros Brawl, (aka Super Smash Brothers 3,) There are no final smashes. Neither in Super Smash Brothers Melee(, aka Super Smash Brothers 2).
Super Smash Bros. was a very big hit for N64, so they've decided to make four more games for GameCube, Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo !
